Wharf One Cafe Review – Cairns, Australia
Despite Cairns’ location there is very little in the way of seaside dining. Cafe’s even with an ocean view are rare. Wharf One Cafe is the exception to the rule. It’s a very cool piece of architecture in an unbeatable location, unless you are heading for Palm Cove.
Wharf One Cafe Review
I’m always a bit hesitant to jump into a cooked breakfast at an untested cafe. We saw some crusty ciabattas coming out and decided that wasn’t for us. Not a criticism, we are more the fluffy Turkish bread kind of people (preserving our teeth and gums for the long haul).
The menu is enticing even though we bottled it and just went with the banana bread, a latte and a cappuccino. Unfortunately the banana bread looked better than it was, not sure if they went light on the sugar deliberately, but a banana bread bordering on savory is a little odd. The coffee wasn’t unpleasant but I certainly should have asked for an extra shot, it was too weak to discern any flavour – temp was good, so drinkable but there are lots of better options in Cairns for coffee. Despite the disappointing outcome it still is a terrific location. Who knows, we may have got them on a bad day, would definitely recommend it for the less than fussy consumer.
